OPPORTUNISTIC SALPINGECTOMY WITH VAGINAL HYSTERECTOMY
Opportunistic salpingectomy may offer obstetrician–gynecologists the opportunity to decrease the risk of ovarian cancer in their patients who are already undergoing vaginal hysterectomy for benign disease. By performing salpingectomy when patients undergo an operation during which the fallopian tubes could be removed in addition to the primary surgical procedure (eg, hysterectomy), the risk of ovarian cancer is reduced.
