Description

Asynclitism is a an under-appreciated cause of delay in the second stage of labour. The more commonly acknowledged causes are disproportion and deflexion. The video is meant to familiarize the obstetrician with the concept of asynclitim, how they are named and how a parallel forceps application can help to correct this in the second stage of labour.

Hello Dr Anitha. The forceps used here is modified after the Shutes forceps and Hays forceps. At vaginal examination, deflexion would be suggested by feeling a very prominent fontanelle. that's the anterior one. the posterior one is small and not as prominent.
