Solapur Obstetrics and Gynecological Society was founded on auspicious day of Makar-Sankrant, 14th January, 1981 at 9 am. It was founded next to Pune and Nasik as one of the third societies of AMOGS (Association of Maharashtra Obstetric and Gynecological societies).

Several clinical meetings were held to promote academics and share knowledge. Excellent course was designed for post-graduate students. Dignitaries like Dr Dasgupta from Jamshedpur, Dr Telang from Pune, and Dr M N Parikh from Mumbai had come to guide the students. From the collected monetary funds, then a slide projector was purchased and it was the first ever own audio-visual aid of the society. The enthusiasm was increased in students and teachers. The post-graduate Department of Dr V M Medical College participated actively in all the programmes. Teachers like Dr V B Kulkarni, Dr Manjiri Chitale, Dr Vasanti Munot, Dr Suman Sardesai, Dr Jadhav, Dr N P Patil, and Dr Anjali Chitnis contributed to raise academic standard.
